Indiana ORGANIZATIONS THAT provide FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) is a health insurance program for uninsured adult Hoosiers ages 19-64. The program is sponsored by the State of Indiana and requires sliding-scale monthly contributions from enrollees. (Participants pay between 2% and 5% of their gross family income; the exact amount depends upon income level and family size).

Indiana’s health care program for low income families, pregnant women, and children. Based on family income, children up to age 19 may be eligible for coverage. The program covers medical care like doctor visits, prescription medicine, mental health care, dental care, hospitalizations, surgeries, and family planning at little or no cost to the member or the member’s family.

HoosierRx is Indiana’s Prescription Drug Program for low-income seniors.
Any eligible senior enrolled in the HoosierRx program will receive assistance paying for their MedicareRx, Part D, and prescription drug plan premium.

A comprehensive welfare reform program that makes assistance transitional for those who are job-ready, intensifies job training and placement services, strengthens work incentives, and promotes responsible parenting behaviors.

Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) subsidies are federal-state benefits, the national government sets broad requirements for state CCDF subsidy programs, but states maintain a wide degree of discretion, and income eligibility limits, work requirements, state payment rates, family co-payments, and other key program decisions vary greatly across the states.
Must be qualified if: Under 13 years (except special needs children); income eligibility limits up to a maximum of 85% of state median income; $21,084/year income for single parents

Indiana Children’s Special Health Care Services provides supplemental medical coverage to help families of children who have serious, chronic medical conditions, age birth to 21 years of age, who meet the program’s financial and medical criteria, pay for treatment related to their child’s condition.

The township Poor Relief system in Indiana is part of the State’s overall welfare structure and functions as a safety net for many low-income families. Indiana is one of only three states that administer the program on a sub-county level of government. Currently, townships finance Poor Relief in the same manner as other township functions, primarily relying on the property tax.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is designed to help welfare recipients obtain and maintain jobs. This program provides assistance to families with children and requires adults to work or prepare for work. Recipients will be provided with supportive assistance while on TANF including: child care services, after-school child care for children age six and older, medical assistance for dependent children, transportation services, aid for heating costs and food stamps.

United Way of Central Indiana’s Winter Assistance Fund helps those who: Are not able to pay their heating bills during the winter months, and Are not eligible for government energy assistance programs.
Formerly known as the Angel Fund, the Winter Assistance Fund began in 1983 in collaboration with the Indianapolis mayor’s office. The program for Marion County residents runs from January through May, and helps those who can’t afford heat and electricity; yet don’t qualify for the government’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program.

Qualifying customers will be eligible to receive up to $450 in annual energy assistance. Eligibility requirements include those customers up to 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, in addition to those who have a financial hardship situation as determined by an administering Winter Warmth agency.
